RUCKUS! is
an indie/alternative music zine. In the context of the zine indie/alternative
refer to styles of music that share an ethos of authenticity, DIY culture, and
general defiance of mainstream music norms.
The aim of the zine is to:
RUCKUS! was my capstone project for my Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) degree, and it was created from the March - October 2023.
Below are the WIP mockups of the zine, featuring 3 of the 5 artists featured in the zine.
The aim of the zine is to:
- Promote indie/alternative music by celebrating the musical achievements of already established indie/alternative acts, and promote smaller, up and coming acts.
- Explore the visual culture of indie/alternative music and the importance of supporting visuals in music.

I also designed additional merchandise to promote the zine. These include a vinyl slipmat, stickers, and a graphic t-shirt.
To give my zine an online presence, I decided that Instagram was the best platform to use, due to my age group being 16-30 year olds.
