Hiraya is a digital zine I designed for a self-directed brief. The zine deals with issues in the Filipino Australian community, such as mental health from a Filipino perspective.

The pilot issue discusses cultural loss and identity amongst 2nd generation Filipino migrants in Australia, hence the grungy, yet colourful art style to communicate those themes. These themes were heavily inspired by my volunteering experiences working with Bayanihan Sydney, a youth organisation which aims to make young Filipinos more open about their mental health.
